The Public Affairs program with Jeff Berkowitz is airing tonight in 24 suburban towns at 8:30pm on comcast channels 19 and 34. A lively show, our interview covers a lot of ground.
Three major themes of the interview: 1. The future of our Open The Books project. Will we get “Every Dime. Online. In Real Time.”? To do so we need the checkbook of the State of llinois, and our request has been rejected by Republican Comptroller Judy Barr-Topinka. 2. We discuss the Newtown school shootings and the abject sadness involved in this massive trajedy. 3. Finally, we end with a discussion of pension reform. Highlighted is the example of salay spiking of former Chicago Police Dectective Ronald Yawger by Attorney General Lisa Madigan.
On the show, Jeff Berkowitz asks folks watching to call Comptroller Judy Barr-Topinka and Attorney General Lisa Madigan. I promised to post their office numbers on our website…
