“How far that little candle throws its beams!
So shines a good deed in a naughty world.”
A state employee fed up with taxpayer abuse,
cuts our For The Good of Illinois logo into his front lawn.
We are good people. Millions of us across Illinois live by principles and values. Not enough time and attention is spent highlighting and showcasing our good deeds.
As 2012 comes to an end, For The Good of Illinois organization wants to showcase your “good deed’s in a naughty world“.
The inspiration for our contest came from a state employee. Fed up with corruption, he planted new grass within his scorched summer lawn… sketching our logo to scale: “For The Good of Illinois“, 7′ height by 24′ length.
Why? The state employee was optimistic, “Even in poor soil, times of drought, and an infestation of corrupted weeds…consistent cultivation can spring forward new growth.”
If you or someone you know have accomplished a good deed, please write up a 300 word or less description. Submit via email: firstname.lastname@example.org.
The For The Good of Illinois Board of Directors will choose the winner. Winner announced on New Year’s Eve posted to our website at forthegoodofillinois.org. Submission must include: name, physical address, cell phone and email. Results are final.
PRIZE: iPAD 3rd Generation with a free download of our Open The Books iAPP.
UPDATE: I’ve returned to For The Good of Illinois as Chief Executive Officer. From the founding of our organization in 2007, I’ve been a full-time volunteer. My only pay will continue to be in… good deeds.
